Hallo My Friends

I am sorry to say, but i am shutting down this website shortly, everything will be returning to Alsha's Space.

I have found that I simply cannot keep up 2 blogs at this point in time, perhaps I was just too soon!

Please drop by and follow the other blog to keep up with my crochet and knitting escapades.

See you there!

Sad Days

Rest in Peace Ms Penelope Superfoot
1996 - 2013

I must apologise for my intermittent posts lately, but our darling Penelope cat has been very very ill.

She finally passed on Thursday at 3.00 pm.

I will be back when I have processed this and come to terms with it.

Another Finish

Well, I still have not completed the second turban for my friend, but I have finished a lovely blanket (another one!)
I'm really pleased with it:

It is yet to be blocked, so that will improve it somewhat, and hopefully make it the right size.

The yarn I used was Zambezzi from Lincraft and it was gorgeous to work with - so soft and yummy...the colours are really pretty.

The pattern is Anya from the ebook, Lace Love by Lisa Gutierrez, and was very easy to follow.  You can download it from Ravelry, for a small fee.

Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous. I'm going to do another one soon, this one may live in the car I think.

I hope you like it too.

Good Things Finished

Some items I have just finished :

I played with this little bird, following Attic 24's instructions

The hat, scarf and cowl are finished, just need to be wrapped for my friend tomorrow
I call the hat a Flapper hat. because it looks like one on!

Just finished this blanket also - a nice granny stripe,

I quite like the colours in it

Do you like the edging i put on it?  I played around with stitches and came up with these leaves and flowers.

Now I am about to start crocheting a cotton cancer turban for another friend who is losing her hair from chemo. She should be able to wear the cotton through the warmer months and I have already made a woollen one for her (forgot to take a pic too!) not that it matters..

Freeform Friday

Thanks for joining me on the freeform Friday! Glad to see you!

There's not much for me to write today, I have been busy crocheting a blanket, and trying to write the patterns for the hat and cowl that I previously promised!

I will get them done.

So I thought i would show you some work from Prudence Mapstone.

Her  work is so colourful and exciting!

And as I think " you can't have enough bling!" She uses lots of sparkly threads and they just add that certain something to her work

I love all of the bullion stitches in the above picture - they are such fun to do, once you are shown.

So come on, join in and show what you have done:

Honeycomb Cowl

As my scarf and hat looked so small for my soon to be holidaying friend, I decided to add a cowl to the mix

Shows the pattern on the cowl - pattern coming soon

the hat has been folded wrong - but it has a little turned back brim

the two together - I just have to make a bow type brooch out of this yarn, and it will be able to be added to any of the items

Freeform Friday

Welcome to Freeform Friday again!!

I'm glad you are here!

Today, I thought I would show you some freeform books, just in case you are becoming more interested and would like to know more.

Apart from our own wonderful Prudence Mapstone, she is also available on Etsy, Pinterest and also on  Ravelry.

She is a very busy girl, our prudence and of course her books are second to none. Unfortunately, I have loaned my copies to a friend, so I can't show them to you tonight!

But of course, there are other books that are also very interesting, such as Renate Kirkpatrick's "Freeform Crochet and Beyond"

Renate takes you through how to scrumble, exercises to do

She explains making bags and clothing, and gives some patterns at the back of her book:

Then there is Jenny Dowde, and her "Freeform Knitting and Crochet".  Jenny is also on Ravelry

Jenny's book is also laid out as usual, with patterns for clothing and other items

and she continues with ideas for practice.

So if you are interested, I highly recommend getting yur hands on these books and working through them - you will not regret it, I promise.

So now, on with the Linky List!

Scarves and Hats

I am busy madly crocheting sets of scarves and hats for some friends who are going over to the UK shortly.

The first friend has been over here visiting for three months, and is due to go back home this Saturday ( gee i hope she doesn't see this!):

Here is her hat from my own design ( I will write a pattern up very soon)  I'm quite pleased with the way it turned out

and here is her scarf - a pattern from Stitch n Bitch The Happy Hooker book

Now the two together!  They were made with a Panda brand Thick and Easy yarn - acrylic and probably a 12 or even 14 ply. Done with a 7mm hook.   Made up really fast

And here is another set for another friend who is leaving for a holiday in the UK near the end of March:L

I haven't quite finished this hat yet - another design of my own, and I'm not real happy with how it's turning out.  I want to add a brim and a nice bright flower to this one and I'm not real sure it is going to work  This is taking a lot longer because  I am not sure where I'm going with it!!

Here's the scarf for it, and it is so different to the first one! This is so tiny next to the red one! Done from the same pattern, but an 8 ply cashmere yarn and 4mm hook.

It's so interesting to see the differences in the same pattern done in different yarns.

Do you think that they will both like them?

Freeform Friday

Welcome to freeform Friday!

Today I would like to show you my knitting back that I am making with scrumbles

The knitting bag is at the back - it has simply been knitted up quickly using Noro  yarn.  I am currently crocheting a band aroung the back as a gusset, and then the scrumbles go on the front. Then the handle, and it's done.

The scrumbles are all in the front, some have been joined together but it is a work in progress.

I must say that I have been working on and off on this for at least 6 months!! I'm not in any hurry!

So why not join in and show us what you are up to with your freeforming.... Lets start supporting one another!!

I can't wait to see what you have done.

Some Blankets

Here are some blankets that I have done :

I love the bright colours in the zigzag that I did last Winter

Here is an old tartan blanket that I crocheted many many moons ago - I think it might have been the 70's and  the pattern was in the Womans Day or Womans Weekly - I forget which!

Old WIP - rather large Granny square - I ran out of black yarn so I had to put it away for a while

Bits of my latest blanket that I do parts for when ever the mood takes me - I hoped to have this one finished by winter this year. I just make individual bits and then sew them all together. I think it should turn out interesting anyhows!

Freeform Friday

I'm going to kick off my Freeform Fridays today.

I will make this a linky day, so that you can post a picture of your freeform scrumbles work plus your latest finish as well, then we can all see what each of us is doing.  We can keep up with each other, and encourage one another when we need to.

Good idea?

Then join in on Fridays, won't you?Tell your friends to drop by and join in with us as well?

I'll start with an old piece I did quite some time ago, but I do like it:

It's my little underwater coral scene, I love it!! I also have some more crochet and freeform work HERE if you would like to take a look.

So come on now, join in and show us your Freeform this Friday using the list!

Starting Janie Crow...

I have just received the yarn for the Janie Crow Crochet Along, Block of the month Mystery!

Look at the fabulous colours:

Now I have to wait until the 25th of this month to get my first installment of the pattern emailed to me.

Can't wait to get started on this one!

At the moment I am working on another handbag ( seems that's my thing at the moment!) and am thinking of writing a pattern out for it as well.

Would you like that?  Let me know.......

Some More Goodies

Here are some more recent makes that I wanted to show you:

My latest handbag, I love the colours of this one!

I said I would show you what is in the bag:

And here it all is! If I am not crocheting bags or blankets, I am going through this book and doing all the granny squares.  It is for a reason, but you will have to wait and see what reason later!

Everything back together again!

have just finished this shawlette - a very simple crochet loop pattern - now i just have to add the fringe.

Crazy Queensland Weather!

Well, we have survived the storm and the cyclone, and now we are back on line.  The rivers are receding again and things are getting back to normal.

Just a couple of photographs from my other blog, to show what it has been like around us!

If you fancy a look over their, the pics are explained...

It's Raining!!!

We have had so little rain for so long, now it is here thanks to the cyclone up North. We should receive between 2 and 300 mm tonight tomorrow and Sunday!

The garden is alive and just so happy!

Sorry, no crochet tonight I'm afraid, we are just too excited about the rain.
Will show some crochet tomorrow of course!
